This stage involves adding information about the competitiveness of the keywords that were identified till now, and understanding the importance of the PR (Page Rank) on the potential search results.
Competitive Assessment of the Keywords
The term Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) describes the relationship between the estimated number of searches of a particular keyword over a period of time, and the number of links returned by a single search of that keyword.
This relationship indicates the competitiveness of the keyword. The greater the difference between the number of searches and the number of search results, the higher the KEI (i.e. competitiveness) will be. A high KEI for a particular keyword means that the "supply" of links in the search results is low, in relationship to the "demand" – the number of searches – for that keyword. What this tells us is that are a lot of searches, and not many quality results, so if we focus on this keyword, we have a good chance of appearing high in the search results.
Page Rank (PR)
The potential position in the search results for a particular keyword is affected by many factors, some of which are related to the efforts to optimize web pages, and some, like Page Rank, which are not related to optimization. The rule of thumb is that the greater the Page Rank of a webpage, the greater its chances to be displayed high in the search results for competitive keywords.
It is important to note that the Page Rank has no connection with keywords.
