The SEO Code of Ethics

While the SEO Code of Ethics is voluntary, it nevertheless binds all SEO experts who seek to build their SEO business for the long-term. The key is always being fair honest and fair to clients, whatever the cost. We don’t just pay lip-service to the SEO Code of Ethics. We practice it every day.
As experts in promoting web sites on the Internet, we undertake to abide by the SEO Code of Ethics as detailed below:
1. Use only accepted and legal means to promote web sites.
2. Follow recommended practices of search engines and directories and avoid using unaccepted or invalid Search Engine optimization (SEO) techniques.
3. Act according to the law and abide by the regulations and conditions as specified by the various search engines and directories.
4. Act in good faith and in an acceptable manner when giving advice about website promotion.
5. Avoid all false presentations and/or fictitious results that have no basis in reality.
6. Avoid any action that may put the client’s website at risk.
7. Keep all client information confidential and private that we receive for the purpose of our SEO work on their sites. Avoid using such information for any other purpose unless we receive prior written consent from our client.
8. Serve our clients at the highest possible professional level, while placing emphasis on efficiency and trustworthiness in all website promotion activities undertaken for them.
9. Avoid completely using all unaccepted, invalid or unethical methods or ways to promote web sites, which includes the following:
  - Never use hidden links to promote web sites.
  - Never apply hidden texts for the purposes of website promotion.
  - Never apply texts and keywords in minute writing to advance web sites.
  - Never use cloaking techniques for promoting web sites.
  - Never use doorway pages.
  - Never use mirror pages or sites to promote web sites.
  - Never use link farms to promote web sites.
  - Never violate author rights or plagiarize another’s creativity.
  - Never use the ‘false click’ system to promote web sites.
  - Never use copied content that violates author rights. Another person’s content can only be used when written permission has been received first.
  - Never use unauthorized software or other tools for web promotion work.
We declare that we are fully aware of the importance of practicing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) according to this Code of Ethics and the rules and guidelines of the search engines. We are also fully aware that bad, invalid or unacceptable SEO practices may cause serious damage to a client’s website.
 
To confirm, we undertake to act fairly and in the spirit of this Code of Ethics, providing our clients with trustworthy, efficient and professional advice. Our overriding goal is to successfully promote our clients’ web sites and help them gain achievements and profits. We regard our clients’ satisfaction as our greatest reward.
